If you know John the way I do, he was always a popular ‘kid’ with friends of many avenues surrounding him. I will spare you all of his wonderful qualities since there are too many to dispel, but I will admit that he is one of the most considerate and sincere guys you will ever meet. I can guarantee it. My husband and I are so fortunate to have made a lifelong friend out of our childhood comrade who was and still is both loyal and kind with a grand touch of respectfulness and polish.

Naturally, we became vested in his life (he was one of our groomsmen) and the softhearted, beautiful flaxen lady he introduced to us before our wedding day several years ago. Instantaneously you could see that together John and Lindsay both contributed a beautiful peacefulness and radiance that complemented each other. Where one was sweet the other was tender, where one was shy the other was gently amiable and though they were uniquely different they were so supportive of the whole.

Reciprocal encouragement, appreciation, patience and love are so evident in the way John and Lindsay relay their adoration. Having had some years to witness their love grow and flourish, we’ve been lucky enough to observe that this recipe of theirs just works. And I have no doubts that in their presence you too would feel that ever-sweet comfort and inspiration. Being bystanders and cheerleaders on their journey is truly wonderful as these two just tug at your heart strings. What’s more… they are incredible friends!

A love like theirs, with deep roots in family (their little man was featured HERE too) and faith is not only a rare find but an uplifting one. They have made the decision that their marriage will take refuge in God where their hearts and souls can rejoice as one. Above all else that intensity and unfailing passion they share, as a foundation to their relationship, will surely enfold and bond them.

We are so excited to witness how John and Lindsay’s love will continue to strengthen and grow in the years ahead. For, when placed with the demands of commitment, we hope that they always find happiness and never lose sight of their tender devotion to one another.

We met Michelle and Charlie as the sun was going down on an ever-so-hot summer evening in July. This couple is very special to us, as they are officially the first couple that neither Jacqueline nor myself knew either the bride or the groom before this session. Before this historic landmark in our company’s brief history we have had at least a friend-of-a-friend introduction. As we love getting to know our sweet couples, we asked how these two met. Michelle replied, “We walked down the aisle together at a mutual friends’ wedding.” Jacqueline and I stole a look at one another, relaying with our eyes the mutual agreement of this romantic and truly charming introduction.

The idea for the session was to walk around downtown Tallahassee and stop here and there as we went, to capture a unique and contemporary feel for this lovely engagement session. The result is full of color and textures and such unique locations. Of course, this pales in comparison to love and endearment we see between Michelle and Charlie. I love how Charlie makes Michelle smile. In almost every image you can see this sweet smile—not only on her lips, but in her eyes as well.

As we are walking along, Michelle casually states that she may have an idea for a location, one that she had not previously relayed to us. As we waited with anxious ears, she continues, “I work at the capitol and we could use the 22nd floor if you would like.” We tried to contain our excitement, but I still think a squeal might have escaped my lips. We couldn’t believe the amazing views the tippy top of the capitol building held.

Both Michelle and Charlie graduated from FAMU–Florida A&M University. We had talked about including the campus somehow in their images but the locations didn’t fit with the style they had wanted. BUT we love how this turned out. These two high above and their alma mater far below. It could not have been more perfect.

The day was soon approaching it’s spectacular finale as we completed our circle of downtown. We absolutely adore the sweet and lovely Michelle and Charlie. We will be bringing you more amazing pictures soon…as we will be capturing their wedding day as well! Eeepp!
Thank you both so much for allowing us to photograph these amazing moments. We are truly blessed and honored.

Nate + Kristy’s Engagement | Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort | Orlando, FL

Their love was genuine and honest. Their side glances and small smiles held secrets. Laughter was found in every crevice. They were without reservation and harbored complete trust. And we meet Nate and Kristy…

The Grand Floridian Resort encompasses all that you could dream of in the Florida of yore. The collosal hotel has every detail pinned, from the chandeliers that dangle in the lobby, to the corners of the porch lattice; you are immersed into this world and you believe. That is one of my favorite aspects of Disney. And it may also be why our adorable couple wanted to incorporate this place into their engagement.

As photographers, we yearn for couples who aren’t afraid to show the world how much they adore one another. This is not as easy of a task as it sounds…especially when onlookers and passerbys oodle and coo over you and your fiancé. As the images show quite clearly, the only two people in Nate and Kristy’s world were each other.

Such a beautiful and sweet love.

Welcoming all guests at the entrance of the resort are two modes of vintage transportation. A horse drawn carriage and a classic car.

Car wins, hands down.
It just doesn’t get any sexier than this.

Surrounding the Grand Floridian is an expansive waterway system that provides alternative transportation to guests. It also creates spectacular views and brings a sense of serenity to the air. Perched on the edge of the shores is a small restaurant called Narcoossee’s. On a warm evening, not to distant in the past, a walk down to the dock after dinner was in order. A knee was taken, and a promise was said allowed.

Her reply was agreement.

In the days to follow, there will be chaos; time will seem to evaporate. Hold fast to your adoration of one another, and remember to pause and reflect on life’s every moments and it will surely see you through.

Thank you once again Nate & Kristy. Your trust, friendship, and support has been so greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with you all in the near future! If you cannot get enough of these two and want to see more, simply head over to Facebook and look through their album!

Grey Area.

I’ve found that the key to any beautiful, healthy relationship is in discovering how to immerse yourselves in the grey area; that middle expanse where compromise is given respectively and with gusto. You have to seek the ideal balance between your passionate interests and hobbies to help each other unwind and intensify the relationship’s bond.

Among the well-versed pages of Matt and my many inherited novels for couples were these clever words that, “every romantic relationship is cyclical”. They are characterized by cycles where the downtime is pivotal in shaping the way we learn to nourish each other’s souls more deeply. Enjoying one another’s company while not exactly doing anything out of the ordinary can be for all, a brilliant way to rejuvenate and reconnect.

Maria and Gavin are yet another delightfully thriving couple, sweetly in love with not only each other but their ever pleasing and dawdling downtime. They’ve become accustomed to fondly nurturing those times of escape from the commotion of their separate daily lives to greet in their cozy nooks and embrace. It’s the little things; tender quiet together moments where lounging, snuggling and flirting run rampant.

It’s their grey area.

Ashley and I find it vital to distinguish couples’ quirks and whims. Being that the most important aspect of our work is to deliver a genuine moment which exposes those real-life luxuries in analogous settings, much like where they transpire away from any prying camera lenses.

My creative mind spun with entertaining ideas of a finely designed and furnished abode unlike their own but still much like their ideal session location. The issue therein lied in creating a controlled environment where spilling rays of sunshine bathed Maria and Gavin plus their surroundings, evenly. Indoor home shoots though fun and exclusive can often be difficult to photograph with attempting to maneuver the [most-often] limited natural light into all of the right angles.

When confronted by the notion of limited organic light, why not nix the idea all together and challenge yourself with available ambient illumination?

The results of my brainchild were warm and inviting, engaging and intimate photographs while not to mention that I was well beyond the realm of permissible workplace fun. 😀 Everything about the IKEA vision was chaotic and uncontrolled. Still these cheeky lovebirds sunk into the coziest of bedspreads, boldly kicked off their worn footwear and kissed most matter-of-factly like couples are inclined to do, without the slightest care for the hordes of shoppers.

Thank you, Gavin and Maria in meeting the challenge so eagerly and turning a blind eye to those gawking consumers while you savored your downtime. Many congrats on the engagement as well as the sincerest well-wishes for a lovely wedding day!

Kiss the Girl.

What is the one place that comes to mind whenever the city of Orlando is mentioned within earshot? Disney. That’s right. That magical place that holds so much wonder and enchantment that it makes deep impressions upon us and captivates us for the rest of our lives. In a town where fairy tale dreams come true each and every day, it is hard not to get caught up in the splendor of Disney. Chris and Jayde are no exception.

After meeting at Florida State University and studying for not only their Bachlor’s but their Master’s as well, these two often take their breaks only to see family…and when things get really intense, they break for Mickey. Close enough to have a get-away, but not far enough away to have to make extensive arrangements, these two would often seek the refuge of this Magical Kingdom. And so over the years, Disney has not only become a favorite childhood memory, but a part of their relationship and future.

We met at the Boardwalk, and exactly as it sounds, it was a small harbor with shops, bakeries, and street vendors along the shore. Four-seater bicycles were for rent and ice-cream was for sale. The perfect getaway. Of course the infamous photo-booths graced the railing and as this couple was a playful bunch, they seized the opportunity to flirt with each other amongst the black, stiff curtains.

Picture Perfect in every way.

“The greatest showplace on Earth,” that could definitely describe every Boardwalk across the globe, but could it not also describe each couple’s ever expanding ever lasting love? Each day an adventure. Each moment an opportunity. To watch a couple in love is almost like watching an intricate dance laid out before your eyes. Drama, passion, fury, love. So fun, so amazing.

As the rain clouds slowly moved from west to east, our lighting only got better. Chris and Jayde couldn’t help but stop and watch as the weather seemed to change before our eyes. The sun was sent behind the dominating clouds, and the colors of the Boardwalk and lake seemed to deepen in hue in only an instant.

Love for every couple is different, not a single person can understand what another individual is feeling, but watching these two you could tell the depth of the caring and understanding. Of course time helps with these sentiments, and going on 6 years of being together, a couple definitely develops some of these characteristics. But it is the little moments that something deeper emerges. When you are in front of a million strangers and a couple of photographers, and all you want to do is brush the hair off of your love’s face just so you can peek at her beautiful eyes…that is how you know it is a little bit more.

Coming so far and weaving the Disney icon into their relationship, it is no wonder that this magnificent couple decided on Disney as the location for their wedding. With school nearing the climax towards the end and life changes happening quickly and fiercely, their wedding maybe their last escape from the daily life. What girl wouldn’t want all her dreams to come true on her wedding day? In fact if someone offered to take care of all the details, and all you had to do was arrive and be a fabulous princess for a day, who wouldn’t say no to the offer?

[There you see her, Sitting there across the way…She don’t got a lot to say, But there’s something about her.
And you don’t know why, But you’re dying to try…You wanna kiss the girl.]

I leave you this quote, to sum up our entire experience with these two young love birds. Any guesses on their favorite Disney movie?? (Clues are found throughout this post!)

Thank you Chris and Jayde for a wonderful photo session. We can’t wait to hear from you and your wedding details!

Postcard from Italy.

There is a place, in the middle of Central Florida, that makes the most native of Italians, feel like they are home again. That is the spot we chose for this fresh-in-love couple. Meet Jo and Rafael. They (like the postcard states) just got engaged!

Such a sweet and romantic couple they were. You could tell each cared tenderly for the other. It hardly took any effort for the pair to pretend we were not there and go about exploring this little world as if we weren’t in it. The pictures truly tell the tale of the extent of their love.

As we walked around this resort oasis we came across a bridge with access to the underside of its belly. Into the dark cave we went for these EXTRAORDINARY pictures. Sometimes Plan B is much more exciting than anything you could have imagined for Plan A. This has to be one of the sexiest pictures.

The truly intense nature of their beauty and love can be seen all over their faces. With her ring sparkling like a white hot fire, Jo’s gaze is the only thing you see. An immensely passionate couple these two are, deep in love, with no signs of needing to come up for air.

Like two balls of energy, the intensity of their session gave them extra energy and before our eyes they started dancing. Swirling and twirling, her hand in his, they stepped to an inaudible tune by the water’s edge. One, two, three…one, two, three, dip! These two were always playing with each other. Always exploring their world together.

Symbols. We, at SolisLux, love symbols. It’s as though we are able to talk with our pictures. One of the keepsakes that Jo treasures from her love, is a song Rafael wrote for her. She, being able to play the guitar, will play for him on occasion, while he sits and watches and learns from her. As if a photoshoot was not even happening we overheard Jo teaching Rafael chords and why she did certain things with her hands as we paraded around them. Of course, this is the exact environment that we yearn to work in!

Rafael is a former member of the Armed Forces and whether out of habit or a sense of duty he still wears his dog tags. The book you see in the background is a gift that his bride-to-be gave to him on his birthday. It is a cookbook! :-) Rafael loves to cook, and having tasted some of his delectable meals, I would say that he is pretty amazing at it. The book was huge, filled with thousands of recipes in need of exploring.

After a long day sitting in the shade with your gorgeous lover flipping through the crisp, new-smell of a book a sense of relaxation overtakes you and you want to snuggle up together to enjoy each others presence. We were so fortunate to meet this couple and cannot thank them enough for letting us into their bubble to snap some amazing pictures.

Thank you Jo and Rafael! We had a great time with you, and cannot wait to hear how the wedding plans are coming!
