All little girls grow up dreaming of their wedding day. Some more than others, but still the same, you have an idea or two before you ever get the proposal. Living in Florida the dream day is usually imagined with blue waters, white sand, a crisp sky, a colorful sunset and the picture perfect moment. The Haro wedding checked all the boxes and then some. Mother Nature dealt us quite the hand this beautiful Saturday… except maybe the wind.

We could have done with a little less hurricane-force gusts that day, although when you are looking through the following images you will have no idea that we were battling it. The wind is definitely something most people do not think about when planning any sort of outdoor event. It sneaks up on you the moment of the big day and suddenly you are concerned about this particular force that you hadn’t even known was charted on your weather app. But I digress.

We arrived on the shores of Hillsboro beach, at the very point where there sits a lighthouse. Lighthouses are particular meaningful to Lisa and Kenny as they promised they would wed each other in front of one. <3 As our groom is a member of the United States Coast Guard, the house guarding the coastal shores also serves as a protecting beacon and symbol. We would like to take a small moment and thank both Kenny and Lisa; Kenny, thank you for serving our country and for the personal sacrifices you make to keep us all safe.

This very special day was filled with so many smiles, so much color, and many, many cheers. As we gazed back at this absolutely perfect day for Lisa and Kenny we both couldn’t help but smile to ourselves. These two are so in love and so perfect for each other. They truly are meant to share their lives together.

Happy Wedding Day Lisa and Kenny! Enjoy!

Oh how time does seem to zip right past us. It has been about a year and a half since we last saw this beautiful family. Little Colin was only crawling at that time. Fast forward — and boy has he grown! He was just as sweet as the day we first met him, a little shy but he quickly emerged from his shell. And not only has he turned into a handsome young man, but there is a little “Miss C” on the way to join this lovely family.

Although the season of fall was upon us, the temperature was still quite warm and the trees still exuded their lush green boughs. We first gathered underneath the enormous Banyan tree that shaded a small meadow which harbored many a picnic at the park. Colin was a bit timid and was not entirely sure who we were or what Mom and Dad had signed him up for. A few swings in the air and a shoulder ride from Pops lightened the mood and put him in a decidedly cheerful frame of mind. He started talking and walking around, politely asking if he could play on the swing set…such a gentleman.

Big Brother! YES!

The family brought these oh-so-tiny embellishments that they planned to adorn little Chloe with. Her tiny shoes with the protective father and big brother in the background simply melts my heart.

My dearest little sister, whom I adore…
God blessed me with you, forevermore.

Side by side, we will always be…
Through tears and heartache, I will never leave.

Through life’s trials we will work them out together…
What I am trying to say is I will love you forever.

We simply love our dads! Dads are the ones we wrestle with, tumble with, play with, run around and fall with. They inspire us to grow big and strong and in rare quiet moments, they teach us about right and wrong.

Miss Katie, you are glowing; such a gorgeous mommy-to-be. The colors and the wind played their parts beautifully that day.

Thank you so much for allowing us to capture this special time in your lives. We love watching you go from a family of 3 to a family of 4. These sweet memories will stay close to our hearts, but we absolutely cannot wait to meet Miss Chloe. Countdown til summer 2014…!

It seems the modern bride wants to capture the ever romantic sunset ceremony for her wedding day. And why not? The background shimmers in magnificent colors, blending with the white sand. The music is a soft hum of waves petting the shore. A breathtaking, soul soothing ground on which to intertwine two lives. Add Key West to that mixture and you have Giovanni and Liz’s incredible wedding.

The Casa Marina sits behind the busy Duval street, tucked neatly next to the shoreline. It boasts deep wood tones and white walls and enough windows so you never loose sight of the blue water. Simple, understated (but in a good way) and glamour only a Waldorf could pull off.

Yes. Those are TOMS wedding shoes.

The handsome Giovanni as he dons his wedding day attire. Quiet, and oh so fond of his Liz, Gio, gracefully puts on his vest and jacket. His eyes escape the room and travel to the very spot that he will be meeting his bride shortly.

Meanwhile, in the bride’s chambers, utter chaos and beautification has fully commenced. Liz compliments Gio perfectly, as she brings such an amazing energy to every person and place she encounters.

Beautiful Bride.

Liz and Giovanni were open to a first look, as they would be seeing each other before the ceremony. We found a quiet area, towards the back of Casa Marina, and fell in love with the architecture. It served as the perfect backdrop to the beautiful and emotional moment of seeing your love for the first time.

There are simply no words for this image. The thoughts that must be running through his mind are to personal and beautiful to pen to paper.

He turns and wants nothing but for her to be in his arms.

As we promised, a perfect setting for the perfect beach wedding. Slight shade for the guests, and an affluence of beautiful stimuli…oh and a violinist. Can it get more perfect?

A tender moment between father and son, shortly before the ceremony begins.

The bride chose to have both her father and step-father walk her down the aisle. There were no attendants, no bridal party. Simple. Bride and Groom.

An emotional response as they gaze at each other once again, in the last moment they will be single. From hence forth they shall follow a religious ceremony to bind them as husband and wife.

Father of the Groom hands his son the wedding bands.

You may kiss the bride.

All the guests gather for champagne and chatter as soon as the ceremony ends. The signing of the marriage license and many congraulatory hugs and kisses are in order.

The creative session was spent along the shore. The neighboring resort held a gorgeous pier over the water’s edge. Liz simply had to have a few images taken there! Once we saw the amazing structure we of course agreed readily. We then trickled down to the sandy shore where there was a beautiful tree providing much needed shade.

The classic shot in front of the Casa Marina.

Mr. and Mrs. were welcomed into their reception with a standing crowd of close friends and family. There was only one dance that night, a sweet tune translating all the wonderful characteristics of Giovanni and Liz’s relationship. They smiled and laughed amongst each other, and the end of the music met with an unexpected dip. :) The rest of the evening was one of pure enjoyment and celebration. The dance floor was never empty and the room was filled to the brim with smiles.

As Giovanni is quite the musician, he had to finish the night with his guitar in hand, his band playing with him, and his bride rocking beside him.

Of course, this did not stop us from stealing the couple for one last shot outside the Casa Marina. The darkness and the lights changed the look of the beautiful resort. We wanted to capture their last dance in this quiet, gorgeous place. Thank you Giovanni and Liz, we had a grand adventure with you both and cannot wait til the next one!

It was a gustful and gloomy morning. Hardly any tourists left the comfort of their hotel rooms to embark on an adventure in the sand. The beaches held only lifeguards and our small group. Cameron came teetering down the shore line, apprehension of the day’s activities was never seen in his eyes. As past experiences had taught us, most toddlers did not care for harsh environments. We were so thrilled to be proven wrong by Cameron. He loved the small wind storm we were experiencing! Even as the sand whipped against his soft skin he simply sat and played with all his brightly colored toys.

His bright blue eyes played well against the stormy sky. He sat and was immediately lost in his imaginary play-world. A call of his name would pull him from his thoughts and lock his intense gaze upon our lenses, but it was the quiet moments that struck at your emotional chords.

We encouraged Cameron to explore his surroundings. The ocean was calling his name and he had yet to venture to it. As if he had suddenly noticed this huge entity of water he took off from his perch and raced towards the shoreline.

The ocean is seemingly an uncomprehensible thing.

As you may imagine, the magic of the unknown world before him seemed to coax Cameron further to its lips. A fun scoop from the edge brought him back to play underneath the pier. A game of animals sounds was invoked to try and sway Cameron’s mind from the ocean’s grasp. His giggles and cries of excitement during this moment portrayed so sweetly on film.

Thank you Lindsay and John for all of your help to capture these incredible shots of Cameron. We greatly enjoyed getting to know him and can’t wait to see you all again! For more pictures of Cameron’s beach adventure visit our Facebook Album!

There is this magnificent fascination shared by many that causes their hearts to patter when spotting striking red fire engines, chiseled firemen or animated fire stations for that matter. Mine began in primary school which once offered the benefits of fire safety week bundled with chiefs, trucks and unanimous choruses from my gaggle of young classmates as we repeated methodically, “stop, drop and roll.”

My memory recalls the visit from a notable chief with his glorious fire truck that blared and glowed with amazing sirens and lights. If you leisurely scanned the throng of children you would clearly see that same enchantment they experience when observing glistening Christmas lights, it was pure captivation. Of course there was the excitement in putting our knowledge to paper as we gleefully colored fire prevention pages until the wrappers on our waxy red crayons needed to be peeled way back.

Over the years it was engrained in our growing minds that the significance of fire drills was not that we got to interrupt an exam and fill our school parking lot with idle chatter, but of the prudency in cautious evacuation. Still with all of my fire safety knowledge delicately packed away I never had the opportunity to visit a local station, much less to shoot in one!

These lucky, darling babes have one very important daddy who knows all too well the magnitude of fire prevention and safety. Every day he and his team risk their lives to protect us; a true hero in our eyes. With pure jubilation it had been my privilege to shoot Courtney and Aubrey’s sister session at the fire station just a skip over the curb off of Deerfield Beach. And in a fleeting moment my vision of a stunning red backdrop to these tiny tikes’ shoot became a reality.

Of course Mom came with her preconceived notions that Courtney, the older of the two was fresh into her precious twos and not one to cooperate behind the camera. However, what is a photographer if not a magician? My bag of tricks surprised Mom and Dad as they played along with sweet and clever Courtney, who abruptly discontinued her amusement to question their motives, “But Mommy, what are you doooing??

Mom pirouetted and entertained.
Courtney giggled and interrogated.
Dad conversed and peeked.

Yet, there was one collected sweet pea whose unruffled manner reminded me of the joy in photographing not-nearly one year olds. Aubrey, unlike her audacious big sister [whom mom and dad comically insisted was their “son” in disguise] comfortably parked herself and gave in to all photographic demands, willingly. That certainly is the joy in capturing little ones; they are accessible while immobile and charmed quite effortlessly.

That zealous, little Jacqueline in me had her fascination quenched that morning with not only a visit to the local station but also with an escape to the sandy seaside. Our attempt to keep Courtney diverted from her adamant demands for “home” gave the sisters a moment to run their fingers in those coarse white granules I adore so much. The lazy beach certainly had a way with the girls in that here everyone including sweet Courtney paused and lingered to share a seemingly perfect family moment.

Thank you Dan and Ashley for allowing me to capture this beautiful memory of your little girls and indulging me with a trip to the station!

California Dreamin’.

Sunlight generously marinated the sandy seaside as Chris came down to his knees; tenderly bringing his ear to Erica’s budding belly he intently listened for his son’s comforting patters. Behind this thin wall was Daddy’s boy, a soon-to-be darling companion who would be taught the ways of the waves and the feel of the gritty sand between his toes. He will come to discover the significance that his mommy and daddy hold for brightly beaming coastlines and sooner-than-later will fit into his “first San Diego t-shirt”.

Chris and Erica were born and raised in sunny California and remarkably brought home from the hospital to the same complex. Growing up they attended the same schools and shared a love for the surf, adoration and respect for the crashing swells of the Pacific Ocean. But even I, who was raised in radiant South Florida, can relate with their delight in having pink sun-kissed shoulders and that natural tendency to sway with upbeat reggae fusions.

This beautiful family stretched their sea legs and had no qualms about being caked in sand or doused in salty seawater. That carefree Cali nature graced their faces with nothing but smiles to be spending a [steamy] morning partaking in one of their favorite pastimes. They flirted and played in the waves, freely splashing at one another as little Gavin was ever present, nestled between them ready to make his debut.

Stunning Erica has this laid-back, charming demeanor that reels you in. It was evident as we instructed her along the nearly deserted beach and observed her newly brewing maternal instinct. She was already in love with her son, you just needed to watch the manner in which her hands stayed glued to her belly, always soothing and encouraging.

Without much coaxing Erica further connected with her humbling surroundings as she swiftly closed her eyes and relaxed on Chris’s surfboard, allowing the sound of the deep-sea to guide her home. In profound thought I had imagined her visualizing the way dynamic California beaches felt on her skin, in her hair and under her toes. She held us engrossed with her serenity and a glance over our shoulders revealed that Chris too was entranced.

Young, in love and awaiting the arrival of their first baby Chris and Erica wholeheartedly beckoned us into their world. Their love is truly a wonderful product of fate, having evolved over the years in the same social circles. Now baking a new life on the eastern coast apart from a majority of friends and family, these two inspired us with their courageous and spirited character.

May your love for life be one of the few great things your little man inherits from you both!
Many congratulations to you and your families, Chris and Erica! We will be eagerly awaiting Gavin’s arrival and the chance to properly introduce ourselves to him. :-)
